Hello, I'm Katelyn
pet & family Photographer
Crazy dog lady originally from Burlington, Vermont. I just recently moved to Raleigh, North Carolina. I've been doing this little photo thing for about 3 years now professionally but I've been behind a camera for as long as I can remember.
I've also loved animals for as long as I can remember. I'm at my happiest when there is a four-legged friend to hang out with. Even as a kid I had my disposable cameras pointed at my fat orange cat, Copper or our perfect golden, Peaches. My two original inspirations. It was inevitable that I would end up in the pet photography world. I always loved this.
A big part of my passion for photography also comes from growing up with a grandfather who found it important to document family moments. Watching the happiness he got from doing that made me want to provide that for other people, and is a big motivator behind my passion for family & couple photography. I know how important having photos to look back on is thanks to him, how it can bring you right back to the love and joy you felt in those moments, and I love giving that to people.
When I'm not capturing beautiful photos for you, I'm busy working in the local pet care community. I have many years of experience working with dogs in a daycare setting and in public settings between my 3 years doing pet photography and my 6 in the pet care industry. I come to every session with extra knowledge on dog behavior and body language as well as handling and training techniques. No matter how shy, nervous, rambunctious or wild, I know how to make the session run smoothly.
My approach

Laid back. I want us to just have as much fun with it as we possibly can, I don't force anything on you or your pups. Top priority is always comfort. And to make sure you understand every step of the process along the way. I like to think that knowing why we do something helps make you more comfortable and confident doing it.
My photo style is all about capturing genuine emotion and candid moments, while adding just a little pop to show you the wonderful way I see your pets (and you!).

In the last couple years I really started taking the dog photography thing I love so much more seriously. There is nothing that gives me joy like this does. And I remember the moment I got this specific photo, it was one of those moments where everything lined up just right and I got the exact shot I wanted. So much of JJ's personality shines through in this run to me photo.
